The recent loss of an airliner over the ocean points out the need for an upgraded recording system. If they could connect the flight recorder to a cellular telephone the data could be sent when a serious problem occurred, not after the flight recorder was retrieved.

Why were passengers with false passports allowed on the airliner (as reported)? There seems to be a problem in document inspection.
