Concussions: When in Doubt, Sit Them Out!

Tuesday, April 8, 6:15 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

PERTH AMBOY – The Human Motion Institute at Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an educational program for parents, coaches, trainers, referees and student athletes The event will provide an overview of concussion in school athletics, including early recognition, prevention and ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing), a computer-based test used in managing concussions for athletes of all ages. It includes interactive stations on keeping student athletes healthy and Hands-Only CPR training. Continuing education credits will be available as appropriate. Center for Balance Open House

OLD BRIDGE – Do you sometimes feel unsteady or dizzy? Is someone in your family falling more often lately? An estimated 2 million adults, ages 65 and older, are treated at emergency departments for fall-related injuries each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Stop by to see how balance testing and treatment can help you and your family. Refreshments will be served. Registration is suggested, call 732-324-5030.

One-Day Childbirth Education Class

Saturday, April 12, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Raritan Bay Area YMCA, 357 New Brunswick Ave., Lower Level, Perth Amboy.

PERTH AMBOY – This class is designed to help expectant parents better understand the childbearing process.  A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class. Is Weight Loss Surgery Right For Me?

Monday, April 14, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
RBMC Old Bridge location, Suite 404, Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital on Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 & 18.

OLD BRIDGE – The informative seminar will focus on weight loss surgery including discussion on Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, Adjustable Gastric Banding, and Gastric Sleeve; Dr. Seun Sowemimo will lead discussions on the concerns surrounding weight loss surgery as well as its successes. RBMC Foundation 17th Annual Art Show

PERTH AMBOY–Art aficionados and individuals looking to enjoy a fun night out in support of a great cause will want to attend Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation’s 17th Annual Art Show “Inspirations: A Celebration of Art and Spring.” Thursday, April 17, 6 to 8 p.m.

This chic evening includes a wine tasting, passed hors d’oeuvres, unique art available for purchase, live music by the Victor Quezada Jazz Trio and more. Featured artwork includes; paintings of watercolor and oil, wall sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics and glass. Community activist and medical center Ernest R. Hansen Auxiliary founding member Carol Rebovich of Woodbridge, NJ, will be the distinguished honoree at the event.

Tickets cost $50 per person and cash raffle tickets are available for $10 each. To purchase event or raffle tickets contact the Foundation at 732-324-5374. Proceeds from the event benefit the medical center’s Center for Women. Raffle winners need not be present to win.
