The Family Will Get Something

PERTH AMBOY – At the Council Meeting, Resident David Caba talked about the shooting death which occurred three months ago.

“I see one of the officers involved is back on duty. The family (of the deceased) hired an attorney to sue the City which we, the taxpayers are paying. We haven’t gotten any answers or responses from letters the City sent to the Attorney General and Prosecutor. We hammered you guys, but it’s nothing personal. We need answers. A few years ago, a police officer was cleared when he shot and killed someone. Why was that family awarded $1.3 million?”

City Attorney Blunda said, “We asked the Prosecutor and Attorney General if we could further assist them.”

Councilman Kenneth Gonzalez asked Blunda if the Council can send a follow-up letter.

Blunda answered, “Yes.”
