The recent mayoral primary election between Mayor Fred Henry and John O’Connell was discussed last Wednesday’s city council meeting when resident Barbara Pasternick inquired about the possibility of a recount. Mayor Henry commented on the situation and confirmed that a recount was asked for.

“From my understanding there was a recount that was asked for today,” he said. “I don’t have a date on when that will take place…but I believe it’s going to take place. After that I don’t know… that’s where we are right now.”

Mayor Henry defeated John O’Connell 580 to 577 in the June 4th election. The close call comes four years after Henry defeated Mary O’Connor by one vote in the 2010 mayoral election.
