SOUTH AMBOY – The City Council, City Attorney, Business Administrator and City Clerk went into closed session to discuss personnel matters. One topic of discussion included appointing someone to finish the unexpired term of Councilman Joe Connors of the Second Ward.

When they came out of the closed session, City Attorney John Lanza  read a resolution appointing Thomas B. Reilly to fill that position. He advised those in attendance that the proper procedures were used for this appointment.

Council President Mickey Gross said, “The South Amboy Democratic Party met with three candidates and they were all highly qualified to take the seat.”

The resolution was moved by Councilman Donald Applegate and seconded by Councilwoman Zussette Dato.

Reilly was to be notified so he could be sworn in before the next Council Meeting which will take place on February 18, 2015.
