Mayor Diaz Appoints New Interim Administrator

PERTH AMBOY – Mayor Wilda Diaz announces the appointment of Peter H. Pelissier, as the Interim City Administrator for the City of Perth Amboy.

“I am so pleased to appoint Mr. Peter Pelissier as Interim City Administrator,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz.  “He is a professional, a veteran and an experienced administrator who will work with my administration and the City Council to best serve our residents and taxpayers. His extensive knowledge, skill-set and integrity will also provide much value to our continued business growth in Perth Amboy.”

Peter Pelissier has served the public as a Professional City Administrator for more than 30 years, most notably working for the City of Rahway, as Director of Administration and Business Administrator for over 20 years. He also served as the Executive Director of the Rahway Redevelopment Agency from its inception in 2001 until his retirement in 2014. Under his direction, the City of Rahway brought in millions of tax dollars due to a tremendous increase of tax ratables.

His most notable achievement was negotiating one of the first Public/Private partnerships in the State of New Jersey, to provide water services, saving over $32 million throughout the duration of a 20-year agreement.  During his tenure, he had reorganized city departments, streamlined city business systems, improved customer service and elevated professionalism of local government through the City of Rahway’s Core Values: Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, and Professionalism.

Mr. Pelissier’s other municipal experience includes, being the clerk and administrator for Long Hill Township; Administrator and Clerk for the Town of Boonton; Town Administrator and Executive Director for the Town of Morristown Redevelopment Agency.  He also served on the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority and provided expert advice to several communities as Relocation Officer pertaining to redevelopment projects.

Mr. Pelissier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut and a Master’s of Education from Springfield College Massachusetts, as well a Master’s of Public Administration from Rutgers University.

Mr. Pelissier served our country during the Vietnam conflict in the Unites States Marine Corp. as a Rifle Platoon Commander and 1st Lieutenant receiving the Naval Commendation Medal with Combat Valor. He received an honorable discharge obtaining the rank of Captain.

Peter is married to his wife Jennifer of 25 years and has three daughters, a son, and two grandchildren. Born and raised in a New Jersey, the call of the wild lured Peter and his wife to the Northwest where they have a home in Montana. They like to hike, bike, fish, camp and care for their two yellow Labradors, Buck and Bear.

Mr. Pelissier has been appointed to replace the previous administrator who resigned October 2, 2015.
