PERTH AMBOY – Perth Amboy resident Anthony Petrick, from Boy Scout Troop 66 has been awarded the Boy Scout Rank of Eagle Scout. Anthony’s project was to construct an Information Kiosk, trail map and trail signs for the Edison Memorial Tower Museum a state park on Christie Street, Edison, NJ. His project consisted of soliciting donations from local businesses, builders as well as personal donations in order to fund his project. The project took a total of 407.75 man hours to complete. The kiosk is situated near the beginning of the Tower Trail which is blazed to go around the property where inventor Thomas A. Edison first had his laboratory before moving it to West Orange, NJ.
Anthony started scouting with Cub Scout Pack 318, and crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 66 in 2008. While in the troop he has held many leadership positions as patrol Leader, Order of the Arrow troop representative, troop Librarian and Senior Patrol Leader. He earned several scout awards; Arrow of Light, Fire in Chit, Totin Chit, Order of the Arrow Ordeal Member, Paul Bunyan Award, and Mile Swim. He has also completed several Medal Hikes, Valley Forge, Battle of Monmouth Scout Trail, Philadelphia Historic Trail, Thomas Edison Trail, Gettysburg Heritage Trail, Jockey Hollow Trail, American Historical Trail Washington D.C., Boston Freedom Trail (Boston Minuteman Council). Continuing with community service Anthony has assisted many fellow scouts with their Eagle Projects, and has volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry for the last five years. He graduated Magna Cum Laud from St. Joseph High School, and is attending Penn State majoring in Risk Assurance\Cyber Security.
