Benefiting: Gift of Life Family House
NEW JERSEY – On May 4, 2017 I’ll be celebrating my 70th birthday by jumping out of a plane.
Yes, you heard me right… I’ll be jumping out of a plane, on a skydiving exhibition in New Jersey!! But this exciting adventure is only possible because of selfless individuals who helped me make it this far – which is why I am raising money and awareness to give back.
This time last year I almost lost my life due to severe Pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that developed in my lungs because of exposure to herbicides such as Agent Orange while serving in the Vietnam War. But thanks to the power of organ donation, I received a double-lung transplant, a miraculous second chance at life thanks to a charitable act by a donor family.
During my lengthy stay in the hospital and visits thereafter, my wife Jackie and I were able to stay at Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia – a wonderful facility that provides a “home away from home” for organ transplant families like mine. I can’t say enough about this wonderful facility that cared for my wife and other family members while I was hospitalized and for me when I was discharged from the hospital after my transplant.
Last year I said, “If I ever get through this, I want to give back and help people there.” So here I am, 9 months after my transplant, feeling great and ready to help – but I need your support too!
Please consider supporting my efforts this year – here are a few ways:
1.) Help me reach my fundraising goal of $10,000 to support Gift of Life Family House by making a donation in honor of my donor. Just click the orange donate button. Any size donation can make a huge difference!
2.) Help create awareness for the importance of organ and tissue donation. Right now over 5,600 people in our region are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. You have the power to give the gift of life! Get informed and register to give others a second chance! http://bit.ly/1pMC5Nv
3.) Help create awareness about the health conditions and diseases developed after exposure to herbicides such as Agent Orange. Learn more here: https://www.vetshq.com/agent-orange-and-herbicides/
4.) Help me get the word out by sharing this fundraising page on your social media sites.
Thank you and God bless,
