19th DISTRICT/NEW JERSEY – Democrat Incumbent Assemblyman Craig Coughlin and newcomer Yvonne Lopez easily won the Democratic nomination for the upcoming November Election. Lopez took the seat vacated by John Wisniewski who was Assemblyman since 1996. Wisniewski declined running for Assemblyman in 2017 in order to seek the Democratic nomination for Governor. During the recent Primary Election held on 6/6/17 Wisniewski lost to newcomer Phil Murphy by a large margin. Kim Guadagno won the Republican nomination for Governor. Deepak Malhortra and Amarjit K. Riar won the Republican nomination for Assembly. Arthur J. Rittenhouse, Jr. won the Republican nomination for State Senator of the 19th District. Incumbent Joe Vitale won the Democratic nomination for State Senator. He has been representing the 19th District since 1998.
