PERTH AMBOY – Last week, the annual McGinnis School history tours commenced with the entire 5th grade class attending. The site was the historic Proprietary House on Kearny Avenue, also known as the Royal Governor’s Mansion. “We typically educate around 250 students each & every Fall”, advised John Kerry Dyke, organizer of these history tours. “All of us involved believe it is important to teach our kids about local history, and of course Perth Amboy enjoys a very rich past.”

Well-known colonial weapons expert, Gary Beauregard explained the activities of a Naval Captain during the American Revolutionary War “We’ll conduct tours for the Shull School & Dual Language School in April, so that’s about 300 more young students to look forward to”, stated Mr. Dyke. “Perth Amboy kids are always great to work with!” All involved are volunteers and work in partnership with the Proprietary House Association, the 1683 Society and the Perth Amboy Board of Education.
