11 Directors Elected to Serve on the Perth Amboy BID’s Board

The BID added 11 directors who are charged with assisting Perth Amboy businesses, maintaining the downtown shopping area and promoting more economic activity in the city. PERTH AMBOY – The Perth Amboy Business Improvement District (BID) recently held an election to fill 11 positions on its Board of Directors. The BID’s directors voted on slate of 19 nominees. Seven directors retained their seats on the board and four individuals are joining the BID’s leadership for the first time.

Three BID directors, who joined the board in 2018, will be up for election in the future. Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz also serves on the BID board.

The following directors who were re-elected:

• Sergio Diaz

• Fausto Diaz

• Wilma R. Matey

• Reyes Ortega

• Barry Rosengarten

• James Snyder

• Jeffrey Steuber

The BID’s four new directors are:

• Lisette Lebron

• Samuel Quezada

• Melvin Rodriquez

• Elizabeth Sanchez

Daniel R. Guadalupe, the BID’s legal counsel, administered the oath of office to the newly elected directors.

In welcoming to the BID Board members, Mayor Wilda Diaz said, “We are grateful that each of you is generously volunteering your time, energy and wisdom to serve as directors. Joining together as a team, our BID board takes positive action to keep the local economy growing and thriving.”

Following the election of directors, the board selected the BID’s executive committee. Barry Rosengarten was re-elected to serve as chairman. The directors also elected Sergio Diaz, vice chairman; Antonio Abreu, secretary; and Reyes Ortega, treasurer.

The election was coordinated by the BID’s Interim Executive Director, Randy Convery, in accordance with the BID’s by-laws. Mr. Guadalupe collected the directors’ ballots, counted the votes and reported the results.

Mr. Rosengarten said, “Our BID focuses meeting the needs of local companies and their employees as well as the community’s residents. We are continuing to enhance the image of Perth Amboy, which is known as the Gateway to the Jersey Shore, a year-round destination for visitors.”
