National Education Organization

SOUTH AMBOY/OLD BRIDGE – With high school graduations being canceled, postponed or transformed into a drive-by diploma pick-up, a national education organization called National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) is keeping the distinguished tradition of valedictorian speeches alive. The organization conducted a search for high school valedictorians/graduating seniors to give them the opportunity to still deliver their speech, share their inspiring messages and bid farewell to their peers – virtually – and provide a $1,000 scholarship.
The following is a link to the selected speeches, which are creative, heartfelt and thought-provoking: https://www.nshss.org/lp/nshss-virtual-valedictorian-speeches/. Two New Jersey students were chosen:
Faizan Khan from South Amboy, NJ/Old Bridge High School
“Now more than ever, students need to have ways to celebrate and be recognized for their outstanding achievements,” said James Lewis, NSHSS President and Co-founder. “They deserve a way to voice their thoughts during this uncertain time, and our new scholarship gives them that platform.”
Graduating high school students submitted a three-to-five-minute video submission of their speech, along with their high school transcript and a headshot. The scholarship was open to both NSHSS members and non-members, and applicants did not have to be named class valedictorian.
