South Amboy Police Department Promotion

Press Release

SOUTH AMBOY – On April 1st Mayor Fred Henry administered the oath of office to Sergeant An Wang as his family and friends looked on.

Wang, who has served as a Detective for the Department is a South Amboy resident and joined the South Amboy Police Department in July 2014 and completed his Basic Recruit Training at the Monmouth County Police Academy.

“One of the greatest pleasures I have as Mayor are events like this. An has been a hard working and dedicated member of our Police Department serving as both a patrol officer and detective.  In addition to his normal assignments, he has been in integral part in special projects as assigned by Chief Lavigne.” Said Mayor Henry.

In addition to his police duties Wang has served on active-duty status in the US Navy and currently holds the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy Reserves.  His promotion will fill the void created by the retirement of Sergeant Richard “Chip” Wojaczyk who retired earlier this year.

“As Mayor I am committed to providing the highest caliber of personnel and equipment to our police department to continue their good work in our community.  As we continue to grow, I will ensure that so too shall our police roster and that those Officers I appoint will reflect the diversity of our community”.
