PERTH AMBOY – William “Billy” Costas – A lifetime worker at the Costas’ Snack Bar, loving brother. William “Billy” D. Costas, 71, of Perth Amboy passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. William was born on September 7, 1949 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Billy was faithful, loving, and kind. Billy is predeceased by his parents Demetri and Antonia Costas, and his beloved twin brother John.

Billy lived for his family and he will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Debra, his son Demitri Jimmy Barnett, his beloved brothers Peter of Greece, George and his wife Penny of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Theodore and his wife Lisa of Jackson, New Jersey, and sister Vasiliki of New York and, adored uncle of Christopher, Krista, Antonia, James, Antonia, Maria, Demetri, and cherished great uncle to Kayden, and Hailey.

Billy always had a passion for the restaurant business and is best-known for his hard work and dedication to his family business the Costas Snack Bar “Hot Dog Stand” since 1968. Billy always had a joyful smile and he was very friendly to everyone. He was the best husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.  

Billy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams. One of his great accomplishments was setting the record for the mile run in 5 minutes flat at WAJ Central School in Windham, New York. He loved going to the movies, listening to his favorite vinyl record collection, and going for walks with his wife in Perth Amboy, and spending time with his brothers, sister, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Billy was humble, kind, and caring, and always put God and his family first. Billy was always there for others. He would always say, “Don’t worry just pray, everything will be ok.” He led his life with a loving and kind heart. Billy was friendly to everyone he met. We love you Billy.

May his memory be eternal.
