Headaches!

I was reading the Amboy Guardian article “Still Up In The Air”, from June 2, 2021 edition. City residents were complaining about those speeding vehicles and some of those wild bicycle riders who are disobeying the law. I guess it is becoming a “Do what I please” city. Also, what about those city homeowners that are paying very “HIGH” property taxes and want some respect in their neighborhood? They do not need to see a circus. Another concern is this “Up In Smoke” marijuana ordinance to be in place. Let’s get this very clear: Perth Amboy already has its problems, and those city-elected officials want more. I’ll bet those politicians that voted for this marijuana law don’t even want this in their town. I hope someday a city council member with living brain cells will realize we created a major problem.

Illegal Housing

In addition to the usual fire and safety issues associated with illegal attic and basement rentals, there are other mitigating circumstances to consider. In order to make these so-called apartments livable, landlords have to do electrical and construction work on the sly which means cities are losing out on valuable permit monies. Also, since I seriously doubt any of these homeowners report the rental income on their taxes, both the state and federal government lose out on a substantial amount of income if it were to be declared, plus if a mortgage is involved, a portion can be deducted on their taxes so that illegal money received from illegal apartment rentals offsets part of the mortgage payments! Hefty fines should and must take place! I urge all to report these scoundrels so that they may be punished where it hurts – in their wallets! Thank you!

There’s An App for That

I know things have gotten a little crazy with this “smart phone” thing, you know, people with their face buried in a phone and what not, but I didn’t realize how crazy things have gotten until the other day.

I was looking at an article for this automatic litter box. It is supposed to automatically sift your cat litter and eliminate your having to “scoop the poop” yourself. Well, that’s all well and good but if you are not into cleaning the litter box then don’t have cats, period.

Well, anyway, I happened to be on a web page that touted this new and improved machine. It was Wi-Fi compatible. You could monitor your litter box from anywhere with this app on your phone. Are you kidding me??? Monitor your litter box???  Not only that, but you get three “FREE” tray liners with your order. The price? Just south of five hundred dollars. How can you beat that?

Now I know things have gone crazy. Hell, to me that’s just insane.
