Report from the June Board Meeting

PERHT AMBOY – The Board meeting opened with a presentation about the District’s Corrective Action Plan. It was quite a surprise to us. There were nine areas cited as needing improvement and the superintendent said that the presentation would be made public after the meeting. We are still waiting for that to happen. At the same meeting, the district hired ten new administrators, five of whom are current employees in the district. The other five were hired from out of district and we do not know their names because they were not on the agenda. We believe that the public should be allowed to comment on new administrative hires before the Board votes to approve them and we continue to ask for more transparency. It is unclear how the Board operates behind the scenes, but it appears that not all members have equal access to important information before they are expected to vote. Maybe the behind-the-scenes process can be explained at the next Board meeting.
