Ex-Chief Andrew Stafford

PERTH AMBOY – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ex-Chief Andy Stafford who passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Chief Stafford served the Perth Amboy Fire Department for 52 years and was an active member of Fire Police at the time of his passing. Two-time Ex Chief and Ex Captain, Lieutenant of the Humane Hook & Ladder Truck #3, He was the Fire Chief in 1991-1992 & 1995-1996 in Perth Amboy.

His son-in-law Wilson Vazquez is our Volunteer Division’s Captain, and his daughter Dana was the City’s first female volunteer firefighter. His two grandsons Dylan & Cody are also volunteer firefighters with Hopelawn Engine Company #1. He was a member of the NJ State Exempt Fireman Association, NJ State Fire Police, NJ Volunteer Chiefs Association and NJ State Fireman’s Association and also a Former Communicant of Holy Spirit RC Church.  

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ. He was employed as an Electrician for Local#102 for 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian (nee Wilga) and Andrew J. Stafford Sr., sister, Lillian Krieger and brother, Edward Stafford.  

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Stafford, daughters, Dana Stafford, Kimberly Vazquez and her husband Wilson, sister, Mary Bobick, grandsons, Dylan and Cody.

Our prayers are with the Stafford and Vazquez families.

A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home 419 Barclay Street Perth Amboy. Burial was at Alpine Cemetery.
