Press Release 8/23/22

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey (GOTRCNJ) is seeking volunteer coaches for its fall season starting week of September 19 for the following sites: SOMERSET COUNTY: Cedar Hill Elementary, Bernards Twp.; Bernardsville Polo Grounds; Mt. Prospect School, Basking Ridge; East County Park, Warren; and VanDerveer Elementary, Somerville. MONMOUTH COUNTY: Fair Haven Fields, Marlboro Recreation Center, Monmouth Beach Elementary, Shrewsbury Elementary and Swimming River, Tinton Falls.

Both men and women are invited to volunteer, and you don’t have to be a runner or athletic. Just bring your energy and enthusiasm. Volunteers provide critical leadership, and the non-profit organization is currently seeking coaches to facilitate the program with teams of 8 to 20 girls.

Girls on the Run of Central NJ is a positive youth development program for girls in 3rd through 5th grades in Camden, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Somerset counties. Participants develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults and make a meaningful contribution to community. Each session is led by trained volunteer coaches that guide and mentor the girls. The nine-week program concludes with all participants completing a celebratory 5k event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
