SOUTH AMBOY – As large redevelopment projects continue to bring improvements to South Amboy City officials made good on their promise to fully fund a program to provide Chromebooks to each student in the district.  In presenting the third and final one hundred thousand dollar check this morning Mayor Fred Henry reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to support projects like this through funds derived from redevelopment projects.

“This is our third concrete step to support our school’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and provide amazing opportunities for our students.” Said Mayor Henry.  “The City Council and I along with the South Amboy Redevelopment Agency have committed to leveraging new revenue sources from redevelopment projects to support initiatives like this for both the schools and the City at large.  Promise made and promise delivered”

“This check represents the third installment of the City’s commitment to provide funding for a Chromebook for every student in the South Amboy School District.  In the modern classroom this technology is indispensable for instructional delivery and learning in the modern classroom.  The Board of Education is thankful to Mayor Henry, his administration, the City Council, and the South Amboy Redevelopment Agency for making good on their commitment to support our students.” Said Anthony Conrad Board of Education Vice President.

“We are grateful and appreciative for the continued support that Mayor Henry and the South Amboy Council has for our students, faculty/staff and our schools.  The $100,000 donation, from Pilot Funds, to purchase Chromebooks for our scholars will enable us to continually close the digital divide and to ensure that all of our scholars have equitable access to technology as well as applicable learning resources.  On behalf of The South Amboy Public Schools, as well as the Board of Education, we humbly accept this donation on behalf of our scholars, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship as we work together to build a better and brighter future for our community of learners.” Said Dr. Frederick Williams III Superintendent of Schools.
