Speaker Discusses Victorian Era Cemetery and Funeral Practices

WOODBRIDGE – The Historical Association of Woodbridge Township presents Victorian Death and Funerals with Brian Armstrong on Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

In anticipation of Halloween, guest speaker Brian Armstrong discusses Victorian Era cemetery and funeral practices. The speaker will highlight weird funeral and death superstitions, mourning practices, and the accompanying development of huge monuments and cemetery parks. He also will forewarn you about the dangers of being buried alive or grave robbing that characterized the 19th century.

We are so fortunate that our distinguished speaker, Brian Armstrong, has presented for the Historical Association before. Moreover, Mr. Armstrong is not only a publisher and author of several books, but he is also President of the League of Historical Societies of New Jersey.

Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, 7 p.m. at Fellowship Hall, First Presbyterian Church, 600 Rahway Ave. Woodbridge, NJ.
