SOUTH AMBOY- The proposed South Amboy city budget was announced as $15,697,436 in general expenses. This is a decrease of $87,929.63 from the 2013 budget that took effect for the previous fiscal year.

The weekend after Easter is special for the Portuguese community in Perth Amboy. For the last 26 years, It is the weekend of the festival honoring “Our Lady of the Martyrs.” It takes place at Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Blessed John Paul II Parish on Wayne St.

By Katherine Massopust PERTH AMBOY – The Perth Amboy Volunteer Fire Department Parade Committee, Inc. has been actively restoring an Ahrens-Fox Fire Engine. This antique fire engine was originally built in 1926 and delivered to the town of Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

PERTH AMBOY – December 4, 2013 was the day that Dixon Rodriguez was fatally shot by Police Officers Rafael A. Puntiel and Gina Fontan. This was four and a half months ago and the memory of what happened that day is still on the minds of some residents who spoke at the meeting. One of them was resident David Caba.

Anyone who has attended Perth Amboy Board of Education meetings knows that Stephanie is a high school student who pulls no punches. Stephanie will give proper recognition if she feels you have done something constructive to help students reach their potential. But God help you if she feels that you are only doing something to promote your own agenda and using students as a stepping stone for that purpose.

The event, sponsored by the Kearny Cottage Historical Society and chaired by Dorothy Carty Daniel, took place at the Perth Amboy YMCA. The program recognized those who paved the way and contributed to Perth Amboy’s history. It also showcased those in the community who helped those in need everyday and in emergency circumstances.
