South Amboy: Property Maintenance Issues

SOUTH AMBOY – A Business Item on the Agenda  included a house on the 300 Block of Prospect Street. A cleanup needed to be done on this property. The owners were given warnings that their property needed to be cleaned up and the Department of Public Works went through the necessary motions which were required, but the owner was not available.

B.A. Camille Tooker stated, “We brought in a landscaper. The Department of Public Works needs to issue a lien to get the City’s money back. The total amount comes out to $1,233.75. By law, several notices were sent to the owners. They were aware of the problem. They probably didn’t act on any of the notices because they knew they were losing their property to foreclosure.”
