PERTH AMBOY – Mayor Wilda Diaz is pleased to present the first “Waterfront Arts Festival” on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 23, from 12:00 (noon) p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. (Rain Date: Sunday May 24th). The festival will feature art, music and food along Perth Amboy’s beautiful and historic waterfront.
Art enthusiasts can choose from a variety of creative and original works of art including sculpture, painting, photography, woodcarvings, glasswork, jewelry, and more. The entertainment schedule features different local and regional musical acts from oldies to cool jazz, salsa and reggae. The Perth Amboy Arts Festival’s performing arts stage offers an eclectic array of programs in dance and performance art, dedicated to enhancing the festival experience.
The Waterfront Arts Festival will feature 20 local and regional artists and artisans displaying and selling original artworks and handmade goods. Original art on display will include paintings and photography. Artisans will be selling handmade clothing among other goods.
Festival attendees will be treated to six bands taking the stage throughout the day playing reggae, rock, folk, jazz and acoustic music. The lineup includes Knotty Rocker, The Rollbacks, Segunda Quimbamba, Roberto Poveda, Midnight Mosaic and Josh Cabrera. DJ Philip Santos will also be playing throughout the day.
A food court is being organized featuring a dozen local eateries and food trucks.
The family-friendly festival will also feature arts and crafts activities.
The Perth Amboy Waterfront Arts Festival is a free event in its inaugural year featuring a wide variety of artists, musicians, performers, local businesses and sponsors, organized by the newly appointed Perth Amboy Arts Council and the Office of Recreation.
The festival, introduced by the newly appointed Arts Council will include a variety of artists, artisans, food vendors, art happenings, performing artists, free interactive children’s arts-n-crafts projects, and a variety of exciting live musical performances along the Raritan Bay in Perth Amboy.
