PERTH AMBOY— Mayor Helmin J. Caba issued the following statement after President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act.

“The signing of the American Rescue Plan Act marks a historic moment for our country and the City of Perth Amboy. This legislation will allow much needed support to our city that translates into stabilizing vital services threatened by this pandemic and putting us on a stronger financial foothold. Our families and businesses have suffered enough during this pandemic and this relief will help us become stronger, healthier, and better prepared for a lasting recovery.

This relief will allow us to balance our city budget and have no tax increase this year. There is much work ahead and I want to whole-hearted thank Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., Senator Cory Booker, and Senator Robert Menendez for their long and hard fought efforts to ensure we received this federal relief.

I want to also thank Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez, Senator Joseph F. Vitale, and the Middlesex County Commissioners for their legislative priorities in always supporting our families and businesses.”
