“If the people of the world want Vibranium on the outside of the borders of Wakanda – good luck!”
– Ramanda Queen of Wakanda
The Black Panther, the Protector of Wakanda, the hero the king is now dead. While the rest of the world searches for Vibranium, a rare powerful metal found only in Wakanda that can be made into anything and used for peace or as a weapon of war. The Queen tells the United Nations that she will not give it to them, and even though T’Challa (Black Panther) is dead, Wakanda is not vulnerable.
But a new crisis comes from the bottom of the ocean – Sub-Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) and his Warriors of the Deep. Prince Namor (Sub-Mariner) is a South American Prince who is related to the ancient god Kubla Khan. Namor gives the Ramanda (Angela Bassett) Queen of Wakanda an ultimatum: either join with him and conquer the rest of the surface world or he will cover Wakanda with water and wipe it off the face of the earth. It is up to Princess Shuri (Lettia Wright) to take up the mantle of the black panther to try to negotiate peace between both sides. She discovers Sub-Mariner’s weakness – heat.
This new Marvel movie is connected right to the rest of the Marvel Universe and picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame (Thanos’s attack). What do they do now after Black Panther is dead? It is time for a new Black Panther to arise. This female-centered movie is a fitting tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman who played the Black Panther and died from cancer. The movie is hard to watch due to the death of Boseman. It is a little bit too long and heavy on dialog – that’s my only problem with it.
Sub-Mariner is an interesting and complicated character to add to the Marvel Universe. This is about the 3rd or 4th time that they’ve revamped his origin. I’m sure there’s more to come here and there’s plenty of course it’s not bad if you love the first Black Panther, you’ll love this one too, but if you’re just a Marvel fan and want to see what’s going on in the Marvel Universe it’s pretty good, too.
